QUESTIONS

What experience qualifies you to serve in the N.C. House? As a woke U.S. citizen I believe it's the civic duty of an able-bodied individual to have the ability to serve their nation. I have the education and experience to perform the duties involved, in previous positions I have been an engagement manager and an expert of reading and reacting to statistics. These are traits that will aid me as a N.C. House representative.

What is the most pressing issue or legislation you would pursue if elected? Since every term there is an open slate for new legislation, I think at this time it would be too early for me to state what would be the most pressing legislation as the future has not been written yet. I can say that my platform stands for public safety (including school safety), education, and job security.

What is the impact on industry with renewable energy incentives for solar energy now eliminated? I feel that it is important to still work toward renewable energy resources and make sure they are combined with the current energy sources that we use now. Also I think that incentives should not be an issue, as those that want to pursue these should be willing to still do so even without them.

What do you propose to close the coverage gap in health insurance for 400,000 North Carolinians? Health care is an extremely open-ended issue and can be debated multiple ways, I would be willing to work with both sides of the aisle to come up with the best proposal that could close such coverage gaps. As someone who myself is without health coverage, a topic that is best served in an open nonpartisan council to come up with the best decision for all.

What would you do to address the monitoring and cleanup, if needed, of potentially harmful chemicals such as PFOS and GenX that are in our air and water supplies? Those responsible for such harmful chemicals should have to work together to pay for this cleanup, and the costs to protect our precious air and water supply should not have to paid by the public. Although I think it would be necessary for cleanup and monitoring be done by a group that is NOT involved with the ones responsible for the issue to begin with.

What are your thoughts on an independent commission for redistricting? OR How would you improve the redistricting process? I believe a nonpartisan commission to work on redistricting would be the best for all citizens, I do not feel that an area is represented well if either party makes such decisions. I support such a commission.

The Parkland, Florida, school shooting has put gun rights vs. control back in the spotlight. What is your stance on the issue? I do not believe limiting our 2nd Amendment rights is the answer, although I believe that the proper education of those wanting to purchase guns should be enforced, that an individual should be taught to respect guns, clean their guns, and proper handling (including shooting practice) of their weapons. The respect of what a gun can do is most important.
