RURAL HALL — The sheriff’s office is investigating a likely suicide at ProShots, a popular shooting range and gun shop on Bethania-Rural Hall Road, officials said.
There was a report of a shooting at ProShots at 12:36 p.m. Monday, said Christina Howell, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office. The business is at 1013 Bethania-Rural Hall Road.
Howell said it appeared to be a suicide, but detectives are still investigating. She did not immediately know if the victim was male or female or if the person was a customer or worker at the range.
ProShots is owned by U.S. Rep. Ted Budd, R-13th.
A spokesman for Budd referred questions about the incident to Pro Shots.
Richard Talbert, a company representative, said in a statement that someone used the firing range at the business and died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
“We would like to thank the first responders for being on the scene quickly, but we cannot offer any additional details at this time,” Talbert said, “except to ask everyone to pray for those people involved.”
Talbert also provided the phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255.
