People watch as Wake Forest University senior Will Fullerton’s short film is projected against the wall of Bailey Power Plant on Wednesday along Patterson Avenue in downtown Winston-Salem. Fullerton’s short film tackled the idea of how the city views itself in relation to cigarettes and art. Joel Tauber, associate professor of art at Wake Forest, gave his Filmmaking and Video Art class an assignment to go outside campus walls and find a location or a person’s story that they felt had not been told enough. Tauber said he wanted his students to “think about what they wanted to add to the cultural landscape.” The seven students produced short films with themes ranging from an analysis of social media anxiety and depression to a focus on four individuals and the stories behind their tattoos.
