Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says the United States needs to take action regarding Ukraine before Russia invades. "Once the Russians have grabbed a piece of Ukraine or tried to overthrow the entire government it's really too late," McConnell said during an appearance Tuesday in Kentucky. He said it seems to him that President Biden's administration is planning on doing that. "It appears to me the administration is moving in the right direction," he said. He called the possibility of a Russian invasion "extremely serious." Moscow has denied it is planning an assault, but it has massed an estimated 100,000 troops near Ukraine in recent weeks and is holding military drills at multiple locations in Russia. That has led the United States and its NATO allies to rush to prepare for a possible war.
