The explosive allegations that UNCSA administrators knew about sexual abuse and exploitation of high-school age students and did nothing about it is nothing new. In fact, one of the current plaintiffs in a lawsuit against UNCSA filed a previous complaint alleging the same things, which led to an investigation by a commission created by the arts school. School administrators now say that the school has changed.

Colleges and universities are using federal money from the American Rescue Plan to clear outstanding debts for students and recent graduates who enrolled in their institution on or after March 13, 2020. Both students and their respective institutions will benefit from this debt clearance, according to Chittenden. The debt clearance will enable students to continue with their education and pursue career goals, he writes. Meanwhile, institutions will be able to clear debts without tapping into their own finances.

The Bobby Labonte Foundation will host a cocktail party and silent auction at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at Inmar Intelligence headquarters at 635 Vine St. in Winston-Salem with all proceeds awarded through a grant to JDRF’s North Carolina Chapter.
