The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that an inmate killed himself on Monday and that it is investigating. James Michael Anderson, who was in the jail on several charges, was found unresponsive in his cell on Monday. The sheriff's office did not provide details on how Anderson is alleged to have killed himself.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department is reviewing its policies on housing transgender inmates in the federal prison system after protections for transgender prisoners were rolled back in the Trump administration, The Associated Press has learned.

Triad Abolition Project, a group critical of law-enforcement agencies, will hold a protest about conditions at the Forsyth County Jail. Earlier this week, a spokeswoman for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said that inmates staged a protest at the jail in their cells, and detention officers turned off water at the jail because some inmates flooded their cells. She has provided little detail on what exactly happened and how long the water was shut off.

The Bobby Labonte Foundation will host a cocktail party and silent auction at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at Inmar Intelligence headquarters at 635 Vine St. in Winston-Salem with all proceeds awarded through a grant to JDRF’s North Carolina Chapter.
