Wake Forest filled a big hole in its front line with a big player Sunday when Isaac Haas of Piedmont, Ala., committed to play for the Deacons in 2014-15.
Haas, a 7-1, 275-pound center, announced his decision via Twitter.
“I have decided to commit to Wake Forest and Coach (Jeff) Bzdelik and I am now a Demon Deacon!! #GoDeacs,’’ Haas posted.
Haas is the second player to commit for next season, joining Shelton Mitchell, a four-star point guard from Waxhaw.
Haas is designated a four-star recruit by the prominent recruiting sites, Rivals.com, Scout.com and ESPN.com. He is ranked No. 58 nationally by Rivals.com and No. 80 by Scout.com. He is not ranked in the top 100 by ESPN.com.
He chose Wake Forest over offers from Purdue, Texas A&M and Alabama-Birmingham. Virginia was also recruiting Haas.
Although Wake Forest recruited seven players who were freshmen in 2012-13, the only true center on the roster is Andre Washington, a 7-foot sophomore from Roanoke who played sparingly last season.
