A team of talented students from Brown Summit Middle School has earned national recognition after capturing the National Championship title at the Long Island Quiz Bowl Alliance (LIQBA) National Tournament.
The championship marks the culmination of a remarkable season for the Brown Summit Quiz Bowl team, whose members demonstrated exceptional academic knowledge, teamwork and perseverance while competing against some of the nation's top middle school students.
Quiz Bowl is a fast-paced academic competition that challenges students across a wide range of subjects, including mathematics, science, history, literature, fine arts and geography. Teams use a lockout buzzer system to answer questions, rewarding both quick thinking and deep content knowledge.
To reach the national tournament, Brown Summit first placed among the top 15 percent of competitors in both the Fall and Spring 30-20-10 tournaments before winning the Southern Regional Championship. Their success earned them a spot in Birmingham, Alabama, where they faced regional champions from across the country.
