Bedford County announces new early vote center location

The new facility was built to provide additional storage space for voting equipment and more consistently accommodate Virginia’s 45-day early voting period. Previously, early voting was typically held in the Bedford County Gym, limiting the facility’s availability for Parks & Recreation programming for several months each year. While the gym may occasionally be used during higher-turnout elections, the Early Vote Center will serve as Bedford County’s main early voting location.

In addition to the new location, Bedford County voters will have expanded opportunities to vote early this election cycle, including Sunday voting hours on two weekends before Election Day.

Primary election information

The August 4, 2026, primary election includes both a Democratic primary and a Republican primary. Virginia does not require voters to register by party affiliation. However, voters may only participate in one primary election.

When checking in to vote, voters will be asked whether they wish to receive a Democratic or Republican ballot. Voters should be prepared to choose which primary they would like to participate in before casting their ballot.

Early voting schedule

Early, in-person voting begins Thursday, June 18, and will be available at the Bedford County Early Vote Center during the following times:

• Monday–Friday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Sunday, July 19: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
• Saturday, July 25: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Sunday, July 26: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
• Saturday, August 1: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Early voting will not be available on:

• Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth
• Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday

Parking information

Parking directly in front of the Early Vote Center is currently limited. Additional parking is available on Turning Point Road near the Registrar’s Office and in the parking lot beside Bedford County Department of Fire & Rescue.
