MCCORMICK, S.C. — The Catawba College women's golf team finished ninth at the Savannah Lakes Invitational on Tuesday at Monticello Golf Club, posting a three-round team score of 914 (+50). Mary-Paige King led the Catawba Indians individually, earning All-Tournament Team honors with a fifth-place finish.
Catawba opened the tournament with a 301 before carding a 305 in the second round and a 308 in the final round. North Georgia claimed the team championship with a score of 869 (+5).
King finished with a 216 (E), opening the tournament with a 1-under-par 71 before firing a 2-under 70 in the second round. She closed with a 3-over 75 to finish tied for fifth and earn All-Tournament recognition. The season-opening score is just three strokes shy of King's program-best 213 54-hole total that she achieved a season ago.
Sara Kristinsdottir finished tied for 35th with a 227 (+11), posting rounds of 77, 75 and 75. Rebecca Wildey was next for the Catawba Indians, finishing tied for 52nd at 233 (+17) after rounds of 75, 79 and 79.
Hannah Waddell rounded out the Catawba scoring lineup, placing 71st with a 241 (+25). She recorded rounds of 81, 81 and 79. In her debut with the Catawba Indians, Beth Gilmour placed tied for 73rd with rounds of 78, 84 and 80.
Catawba returns to action Oct. 5-6 in Landrum, S.C., for the Glassy Mountain Autumn Classic hosted by North Greenville.
