CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced Thursday afternoon that Radford men's golf junior Benson Blevins (Golfer of the Week) and David Goode (Freshman of the Week) swept the conference's weekly awards list for the second time this season.
After a slow start in the Golfweek Fall Challenge, finishing in T-50th place, and a T-55th place finish at the Bryan National Collegiate, Blevins had a breakout performance this week competing at the Testudo Cup. The junior placed eighth overall with a score of 215 (-1) to lead the Highlanders. Blevins started out day one slow, going three-over par on his first round of play, as Radford as a team took a round to get going. That was followed by shooting one-over during his second round to end the day at four-over. However, on the second day and final round of play, Blevins went on to tie the best round of the competition with a score of five-under par for a round score of 67. Blevins found his stride on hole eight's 483-yard hole with the junior shooting an eagle to go along with five other birdies.

The next best-scoring Highlander was the freshman Goode with a score of 216 (E) to finish just one place behind Blevins in T-9th place overall to continue his strong start to the year. The freshman played consistently in all three rounds as he finished each round of play with a 72 (E). Goode scored 10 birdies over the course of the Cup with two eagles on the final round of play. These eagles came on the longest hole on the course, the 527-yard par-5 of hole 12, followed by the 502-yard par-5 of hole 16. In the rest of the third round, Goode worked through some bogeys on two and three in the front nine, then 10 and 11, followed by a triple bogey on hole 15. Through the rest of the round, Goode recovered well to end even on the day and across the Cup.
This is Blevins' first Big South weekly award since he won the Freshman of the Week nod on April 3, 2025, with a tied-for-16th finish at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate. This is Goode's first nod for Freshman of the Week after the Virginia native took home Golfer of the Week following his individual championship at the Bryan National Collegiate earlier this season.
The Highlanders now turn their focus toward finishing out the fall section of their season strong at the Phoenix Invitational, running from October 12 through October 13.
